Résumé/Présentation

L'emploi contribue au bien-être, mais de nombreuses personnes autistes qui souhaitent travailler se heurtent à des obstacles à un emploi significatif. Une grande partie des recherches se concentre uniquement sur les taux d'emploi, plutôt que d'adopter une vision plus holistique des trajectoires professionnelles et des expériences professionnelles. Nous avons mené des entretiens semi-structurés avec 18 adultes autistes pour explorer leurs expériences et perspectives sur la réussite professionnelle. Nos participants ont souligné l'importance primordiale de trouver un épanouissement dans leur carrière. À l'aide d'une analyse thématique réflexive, nous avons identifié cinq thèmes clés supplémentaires : (1) des parcours professionnels instables, (2) le besoin d'un soutien continu dans la carrière, (3) l'impact (positif ou négatif) des interactions sociales, (4) le rôle important des organisations et (5) l'impact catastrophique des mauvaises expériences. Nos résultats mettent en évidence l'importance d'un soutien à l'emploi personnalisé et tout au long de la vie, ainsi que des environnements de travail inclusifs pour permettre aux personnes autistes de s'épanouir au travail. Permettre l'épanouissement professionnel des personnes autistes nécessite de dépasser les embauches au niveau débutant afin de promouvoir un emploi durable et épanouissant pour toutes les personnes autistes.
