Résumé/Présentation

Cet article examine les défis liés à la qualité de vie des adultes autistes. L'auteur, un chercheur autiste, commence par expliquer comment la perspective de la neurodiversité offre une alternative importante au modèle déficitaire de l'autisme. Alors que le modèle déficitaire dépeint les personnes autistes comme malades, brisées et nécessitant une réparation, la perspective de la neurodiversité les considère comme une forme de diversité humaine avec des forces et des difficultés associées. La discussion de l'article passe ensuite à la présentation du cadre de qualité de vie de Schalock (2000) comme une lentille compatible avec la neurodiversité à travers laquelle les domaines de la qualité de vie peuvent être envisagés. L'article analyse en détail ces domaines essentiels en relation avec la vie des adultes autistes. L'auteur suggère qu'une approche collaborative entre professionnels/chercheurs et adultes autistes est nécessaire pour développer des solutions significatives à ces défis, et il présente des possibilités de collaboration.
